- 6lbs Pilsen LME
- 1lb Amber DME
- 1lb Crystal 120L
Hops:
- .5oz Nugget @ 60 min
- .5oz Cascade @ 20 min
- .25oz Mosaic @ 5 min
Optional: 1/4 tsp Irish Moss or 1 Whirflock TabletYeastYeast: Imperial Cablecar or WLP810 or Wyeast 2112
Bag all cracked whole grains. Heat 2 qts water to about 160. Steep cracked grains in 2 qts water at 150 F for 45 minutes. Rinse (sparge) grains with 170F water until 4 gal volume is reached. Bring to boil. Remove from heat, stir in DME and LME until disolved. Return to boil. Once boil is achieved, start 60 min timer. Add hops according to schedule above. Cool to about 70F and pour into the fermenter. Add clean, cool H2O to bring the volume to 5 Gallons. Aerate and pitch yeast. When fermentation is complete (about 2 weeks), you can lager this beer for another 2 weeks, if possible. Bottle or keg. You may want to use the left-over DME from the recipe to bottle instead of corn sugar.
This one is fun as a 100% RedX recipe.Replace all the extract and sugar with 10lbs of RedX malt.
Mash 13 qts water at 152F for 1 hr, sparge with 170F water until 6 gal boiling volume is reached.Follow the rest of the extract recipe instructions and enjoy!
