A Homebrew Beer Recipe

Style (BJCP): 
07. India Pale Ale - India Pale Ale
Extract Ingredients: 
  • 6.6 lb Pilsen Light LME
  • 1lb Golden Light DME
  • 1 lb Flaked Rice
  • 12 oz 6-Row
  • 12 oz Superior Pilsen Malt
  • .25 lb Rice Hulls
  • 1 oz Citra, Galaxy, Wakatu, Mosaic, El Dorado
  • Yeast: Juice, London III 
  • BSG Amylo 300 1oz

 

Extract Instructions: 
  1. Bag all cracked whole grains with flaked rice and rice hulls, mixed well. 
  2. Steep cracked grains with .25 oz Amylo 300 in 5 qts water at 145 F for 30 minutes
  3. Remove grains, adding water to 6 gallons
  4. When water is above 160, add lme and dme, stirring well
  5. Boil for 15 min, adding Yeast Nutrient
  6. Cool to 180F and add Citra, Galaxy, and Wakatu hops in a hop bag
  7. Remove hops after 20 min, transfer to fermenter with yeast
  8. After 2 days of fermentation, add Amylo 300
  9. Take gravity readings after 1 week. The gravity should be below 1.005 before transfering to secondary.
  10. In secondary, add remaining hops for 5 days of dry hopping. Fermentation may continue or pick back up during this phase.
  11. Crash to 34F,  clarifing if desired
  12. Keg or bottle and drink fresh!
All Grain Ingredients: 
  • 3.5 lbs 2 Row
  • 3.5 Lbs Superior Pils
  • 2.75 lb 6 Row
  • 2.25 lbs Flaked Rice
  • .5 lbs Rice Hulls
All Grain Instructions: 
  1. Heat 4 gallons of water to 155F and add grains
  2. Mash at 140-144F with .5 oz Amylo 300 for 45 min
  3. Sparge with 170F water until desired boil volume is reached (around 6.75 gall)
  4. Boil for 1 hr, adding Yeast Nutrient @ 15 min if desired
  5. Follow the steps described in the Extract Instructions from here
