A Homebrew Beer Recipe

Style (BJCP): 
19A. Belgian And French Ale - Belgian Pale Ale
Extract Ingredients: 
  • 3.3 lbs Pilsen LME
  • 3.3 Golden Light LME
  • .5 lb Munich
  • .5 lb Aromatic Malt
  • 4 oz Special Roast


  • 1 oz Hallertauer @ 60 min
  • 1 oz Saaz @ 10 min

Optional: 1/4 tsp Irish Moss or 1 Whirflock TabletYeast: Safbrew T-58 or Imperial Gnome 

Extract Instructions: 

Bag all cracked whole grains. Heat 4.5 qts water to about 160. Steep cracked grains in 4.5 qts water at 152 F for 45 minutes. Rinse (sparge) grains with 170F water until 4 gal volume is reached. Bring to boil. Remove from heat, stir in DME and LME until disolved. Return to boil. Once boil is achieved, start 60 min timer. Add hops according to schedule above. Cool to about 80F and pour into the fermenter. Add clean, cool H2O to bring the volume to 5 Gallons. Aerate and pitch yeast. When fermentation is complete (about 2 weeks), bottle or keg. You may want to use the left-over DME from the recipe to bottle instead of corn sugar. 

All Grain Ingredients: 

Replace Pilsen LME with 5.5 lbs of Belgian Pils, Golden DME with 5.75 lbs 2-Row
