A Homebrew Beer Recipe

Style (BJCP): 
06A. American Pale Ales - American Pale Ale
Extract Ingredients: 
  • 6 lb Pilsen Light LME
  • 1 lb Munich Malt

Hops

  • 1 oz Chinook @ 60 min
  • 1 oz Crystal @ 5 min
  • 1 oz Huell Melon Dry Hop 

Water Additions

  • 3g Calcium Chloride
  • 2g Gypsum

Yeast:Imperial House, Safale-05

Extract Instructions: 
  1. Bag all cracked whole grains. 
  2. Steep cracked grains in 2 qts water at 154 F for 45 minutes
  3. Sparge with 1 gal H2O @ 170
  4. Fill pot with H2O to 5.5 gal, bring to boil, remove from heat, and stir in extracts and water additions
  5. Follow hop schedule, adding 1/2 tsp of Yeast Nutrient @ 15 min left in boil
  6. Cool to 70F, pitch yeast, and aerate
  7. After 5 days or so, add dry hop additions
  8. After 10 days (or at terminal gravity) keg or bottle your beer.
All Grain Ingredients: 
  • Replace Munich Malt and LME with 8.5 lb Northwest Pale Malt
All Grain Instructions: 
  1. Mash 10.75 qts H2O @ 152 for 60 min
  2. Sparge @ 170F until 5.5 gal of sweet wort is collected
  3. Follow hop and fermentation schedule as written in the extract instructions
