HBX Opening a Brewpub for the Elderly

Beer with Fiber?Beer with Fiber?April 1, 2013 - For immediate release. Portland, OR. The Homebrew Exchange (HBX) announced today that they are expanding with a new brew pub that will target an underserved demographic. "We wanted to do something different", said Jocelyn F., co-owner of the Portland DIY supply store.

By targeting elderly people specifically, HBX aims to carve out a unique market segment. Their new location has easy access by light rail, being right on the Rosa Parks stop of the Max Yellow Line. Accessibility, and digestive health, are two of the key vertical areas of focus for the brewpub, which just submitted it's brewpub application to the Oregon Liquor Control Commission (OLCC).

"By adding fiber and calcium supplements to every beer that we brew and serve, we hope to improve the quality of life for our local, elderly, beer lovers.", said Jocelyn. The new brewpub will exclusively play older music in it's small lounge, at an increased volume for those with hearing impairment.
